Rain likely in parts of State even as temperatures remain above normal

With various parts of the State continuing to witness warm days and cooler nights due to the deficit of post-monsoon rain and snowfall, some mountainous parts of the State may witness rainfall on Monday. The State meteorological centre has forecast that very light to light rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts today. However, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State.
The provisional State capital of Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear sky today with mist/haze likely to occur during the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 30 degrees Celsius and 15 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
Meanwhile, various parts of the State continued to witness above normal temperatures on Sunday. The diurnal temperature variation was also noticeable in some places with the difference between the maximum and minimum temperature being about 15 degrees Celsius in Dehradun. The maximum and minimum temperatures were 30.2 degrees Celsius and 15 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 20.6 degrees Celsius and 17.4 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 22 degrees Celsius and 11.1 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 23.3 degrees Celsius and 12.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. The maximum temperature was three degrees Celsius above normal while the minimum was two degrees Celsius above normal in Dehradun. Similarly, the maximum was a degree above normal and the minimum was five degrees above normal in Pantnagar while in Mukteshwar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were each four degrees above normal. The maximum was two degrees above normal and the minimum was four degrees above normal in New Tehri.
