Congress opposes Govt’s decision to run Haridwar Medical College on PPP mode

PNS | DEHRADUN

The Congress has registered its strong protest against the decision of the State government to operate the Government Medical College Haridwar in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.

Interacting with the mediapersons at the headquarters of the State Congress, the party vice president Suryakant Dhasmana said that the decision to hand over the medical college to a private player after spending crores of rupees in its construction shows the pathetic condition of the health services. He said that since the government is not in a position to operate a medical college in the most prosperous district located in plains one can understand the situation of health services in the remote and mountainous parts of the State.

Dhasmana said that the focus of any welfare State and government is providing its citizens the security of food, education and health.

“ Handing over the operation of Haridwar medical college to private players shows that either the system has paralyzed or there is major corruption in the deal,’’ he said.
