Even as heavy rains caused considerable damage in Tharali and other parts of Chamoli district on Saturday, many parts of the State are forecast to witness heavy to very heavy rains today.
The State Meteorological Centre has issued an orange warning (be prepared to take action) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain/thunderstorm accompanied by lightning/very intense to extremely intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Nainital districts on Sunday. A yellow warning (be aware) has been issued regarding the possibility of heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain are likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in all districts of the State.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky on Sunday. Few spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur, one or two of which may be intense/heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 30 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
