PIONEEREDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

Haridwar MP and former chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat accepted that the BJP had formed a fixed deposit during his tenure as a CM but rejected Congress leader Harak Singh Rawat’s allegation that it was created with Rs 30 crore taken from elements including the mining mafia.

He clarified that the party received Rs 27 crore in donations through cheques and the amount was deposited transparently with complete records. During media interaction on Monday, Rawat said that every political party in the country receives donations and the process is legitimate if done transparently.

He claimed that the BJP followed this approach at that time too. Commenting on the Congress leader, he said that Harak Singh Rawat seldom makes truthful statements and often retracts them the next day.
