PWD suffers colossal loss this monsoon: Maharaj

The State Public Works Department minister Satpal Maharaj said that due to heavy rains, landslides and floods, the PWD has suffered loss to the tune of crores. More than 2600 roads have been damaged so far this monsoon season out of which 2406 have been opened and traffic has been restored. He further said that
roads have been completely washed away at some places while195 routes are still closed.
“Out of 1703 closed PWD roads in the State, 1624 have been opened and the work to open the remaining 97 roads is going on in full swing. Out of 24 closed NHs, 23 have been opened. Out of 869 PMGSY roads, 754 have been opened for traffic while work to open the remaining 115 roads is on. However, all the roads under BRO and NHIDCL are open at this time,” he said.
He further informed that a total of 684 machines have been deployed across the State to open the blocked roads.
