BJP alleges Congress’s funding for NARI 2025 survey

Considering the unnecessary uproar by Congress on findings of the National Annual Report and Index on Women’s Safety (NARI) 2025, it seems like Congress had paid the private agency Pvalue Analytics to conduct this survey, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State head Mahendra Bhatt said. He made this statement in response to Congress party’s recent protests and remarks about women’s safety in Dehradun, citing the NARI 2025 report.

The report, launched by the National Commission for Women (NCW) last week, placed Dehradun among the 10 most unsafe cities for women out of the 31 cities covered in the survey.

Reacting to the report, Congress staged a protest on Wednesday, accusing the BJP-led State government of failing to ensure safety for women. Bhatt questioned the motives behind the Congress protest. He said that the way Congress leaders are promoting the report made him suspect that the party might be behind the survey itself. “The way Congress leaders are unnecessarily hyping up the alleged findings of the report that said Dehradun is unsafe, it initially made me doubt whether Congress is behind the survey. However, their protest on Wednesday has confirmed my doubts,” he said.

Bhatt also called the Congress’s protest a flop show. BJP Mahila Morcha State President Asha Nautiyal also called the protest unnecessary and completely politically motivated rather than for women’s safety. She claimed that Congress workers are divided into groups and competing among themselves, which is why protests are being held separately.

She said that the NCW chairperson has already clarified the role of the private agency behind the survey and the police have also issued its response. Nautiyal added that under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the State government is taking necessary steps for women’s safety. She said that Congress should examine its own record during its rule instead of creating issues for publicity.
