Dehradun-based litterateur Tapas Chakraborty has been awarded the Sahitya Sparsh Award 2025 for his latest travelogue, Hampi: Utkarsh se Apkarsh tak.

He said that the award, presented by Literature Slight Publishing and sponsored by The Literature Times, celebrates literary contributions from writers across Asia. The awards aim to nurture the tradition of storytelling while providing a vibrant platform for diverse and compelling literary voices across genres.

Currently serving as assistant commissioner in the Central Goods and Services Tax Commissionerate in Dehradun, Chakraborty is the author of five travelogues. His literary journey began with Ruk Jana Nahi, which received the Rajbhasha Gaurav Puraskar from the central government in 2016.

In Hampi: Utkarsh se Apkarsh tak, Chakraborty chronicles the magnificent rise and eventual decline of Hampi, the illustrious capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. The travelogue brings to life Hampi’s grand monuments, the legends woven around them, and the author’s personal travel experiences, all narrated with vibrancy and depth.
