The Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan listened to the problems of 169 people on Samadhan Diwas at the Dehradun Collectorate on Monday. Many complaints were resolved on the spot, while officials were directed to settle the remaining cases within a fixed time. Most of the complaints related to land disputes, illegal encroachments, disaster compensation and family-related issues.
During the public hearing, the DM also ordered strict action in several important cases. He stopped the salary of an Aanchal Dairy officer after a complaint that an employee had not received her ACP benefits despite repeated requests. He also directed officials to take legal action against illegal encroachments, unauthorised land plotting, and land grabbing in Mehuwala, Chidderwala, Krisali and Rishikesh. The DM ordered immediate action in cases of harassment, protection for a senior citizen couple, family counselling in a domestic dispute, and a fair inquiry into a dowry harassment complaint.
He also assured financial assistance to a B Tech student, a differently-abled woman and another student seeking help to continue her education. He instructed the municipal commissioner to address road construction issues in Devpuram and asked the police to verify street vendors and regulate the weekly market in Banjarawala.
