The body of a young man was found hanging from a tree in a forest near Sura Devi temple on Old Mussoorie Road on Sunday. The Rajpur police reached the spot after receiving information from locals and started an investigation into the case. During the investigation, police found that the man’s description matched Ayush Kohli (22) who had been reported missing at Kotwali police station.

Police said that the body was found about three kilometres from Uttaranchal Medical Hospital and around 500 metres below Sura Devi temple. The man appeared to be between 20 and 25 years old. The body was hanging from a noose tied to a banyan tree and was in a decomposed condition, suggesting it had been there for several days. The SDRF team helped bring the body down while the field unit carried out photography and videography at the scene.

Police recovered a switched-off mobile phone from the deceased. A tattoo was found on his right hand. A bag lying near the body contained a protein supplement container and a selfie stick. The Rajpur police have informed Kohli’s family to identify the body. Police said the identity of the deceased, the cause of death and all other circumstances of the case are being investigated.
