IAS officer R Meenakshi Sundaram has reported that fraudsters are misusing his photograph to impersonate him and demand money from various individuals. In a letter to the Dehradun senior superintendent of police, Ajai Singh, principal secretary Sundaram has sought immediate action against the culprits.
In his complaint, Sundaram stated that unknown persons are using his photo on WhatsApp number +84 812986500 to contact individuals and officials, asking for money through Google Pay on number 8974517706. He said that this act is an attempt to tarnish his image.
He further informed that similar incidents had occurred earlier as well and he had filed a complaint on March 28, 2024 but no action had been taken on that so far. He urged the police to register an FIR and take strict legal steps against those responsible, to prevent further misuse of his identity or similar attempts against any other officer.
He also requested to be updated about the action taken. The SSP said the police will look into the matter and take appropriate action against the offenders.
