A number of ex-servicemen from the border district of Pithoragarh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party here on Thursday. They stated that as soldiers, they have always supported a nationalist ideology and are now formally joining the party to carry it forward.
BJP State general secretaries Tarun Bansal and Deepti Rawat welcomed the ex-servicemen from Dharchula Vidhan Sabha constituency into the party during the event held at the BJP State headquarters. Speaking on the occasion, Bansal exhorted them to work with the party for nation building. He opined that soldiers had always supported the BJP ideology and also voted for the party. “Having completed your service in the army, there can be nothing better if you now want to serve the nation with the BJP,” he said.
Addressing the gathering, Rawat said that the ex-servicemen had served the nation while in the army and working now in the BJP is also a form of serving the nation. She claimed that BJP is the only party for which dedication to the nation is supreme. “I can say confidently that you have come to the right place. The party will use your work culture to further enhance its organisational capability,” she said.
