Student union elections to be held in U’khand on Sep 27

The student union election for the academic year 2025-2026 will be held at all colleges, including those affiliated with HNB Garhwal (Central) University, on September 27 throughout the State. The administrations of DAV PG College and DBS College here have geared up to ensure peaceful elections.
It will be recalled that in the student union election, the ABVP has held the president’s position at DAV PG College for the past 14 years, with Siddharth Aggarwal from the Aryan Students Organisation winning the presidential election in 2023. However, the student union election was not held in 2024.
Commenting on the final preparation for the election, the Chief Election Officer (CEO) at DAV PG College, Shashi Kiran Solanki stated that they have about 9,041 student voters registered for the election which include 4,285 males, 4,755 females and one transgender. Preparations have been completely finalised, with voting commencing at 8 AM and concluding at 1:30 PM. The counting of votes is set to begin at 3 PM, with 16 polling booths and 18 counting counters established for the process. Each table will be staffed by five personnel, including three teachers, one non-teaching staff member and one fourth-class employee. She assured that the election would be conducted peacefully.
At DBS College, CEO Amit Chauhan informed that their election will start at 8:30 AM and will also conclude at 1:30 PM. Teachers and other non-teaching staff have been assigned various duties. A total of 1,588 voters will cast their votes at this college, with six voting booths set up and three counters for counting. The vote counting process will commence at 2:30 PM. Chauhan is confident that the election will proceed smoothly.
It will be recalled that earlier, the DAV PG College administration had issued guidelines prohibiting the use of drums and firecrackers on campus during the election.
