Dormitory for patients’ attendants to come up soon at District Hospital

PIONEEREDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

A dormitory for patients’ attendants is all set to be established at Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital. Informing this, the principal medical superintendent (PMS), Dr Manu Jain said that following the directives of the district magistrate Savin Bansal, the dormitory was being built for those who would accompany their patients to the hospital. “The dormitory will be located near the hospital’s oxygen plant and initially include six to eight beds along with facilities such as toilets and water,” he said.

Jain further said that the primary objective behind establishing the dormitory is to assist patients and their attendants who travel from the far-off hilly regions and other districts with accommodation being a challenge for them.  “However, accommodation here will not be free of charge; a fee of Rs 150 will be charged for each attendant per night,” he said.

Jain further informed that the DM had recently approved Rs 9.22 lakhs for the establishment of the dormitory. The tender process is currently underway and soon a tender will be issued for the dormitory’s construction. “As per our anticipation, the construction work will begin within 20 days and likely be completed in a couple of months,” he added.

Importantly, a string of initiatives has been recently taken to improve services at the hospital further. Some have been completed   and the rest of the projects are in progress. These include a blood bank and the multi-level parking which has alleviated parking issues at the facility.
