Following controversy over the marriage function of a cabinet minister’s son at the Sureshwari Devi Mandir in a reserved forest area in Haridwar, the Rajaji tiger reserve has booked a case against the temple management committee, based on the complaint of a forest activist.

According to sources, cabinet minister Khajan Dass’ son’s marriage was to be held in the complex of the said temple on Sunday. It was alleged that elaborate arrangements had been made at the temple which falls in a reserved forest area. The arrangements were changed after the issue was raised in the media. Dass said that the marriage programme here will be limited only to holding the Feras at the temple. He further claimed that the permission of the temple committee and approval of the Rajaji administration had been taken before planning the programme. Meanwhile, the administration has lodged a case and begun a probe in the matter.
