Harish Rawat comes out of self-imposed break with fruit party

Living up to his reputation of throwing parties aimed at promoting local products and striking a bond with the general public, former chief minister Harish Rawat organised a get together in his residence here on Friday. The former CM who created furore in the Uttarakhand Congress by taking an ‘ earned leave’ reported back to work with the party.
In the party Rawat offered water melons, cucumbers and muskmelons to the guests in his unique style. The red rice of Uttarkashi, Bhatt ki Chutkani, Mandwe Ki Roti and Chutneys were also served on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Rawat said that he started work to promote local producers of the State when he was chief minister of the State. The former CM said that he is continuing the agenda. He said that the water melons, cucumbers and muskmelons are cultivated along riversides in Haridwar district. He said that the people of Kashyap community who cultivate them had asked him to promote their produce as well. Rawat said he will continue to make efforts for giving national and international recognition to the products and cuisine of Uttarakhand. “During the Congress government in the State, I started many schemes to promote culture, costumes, cuisine and other products of Uttarakhand. I will ensure that the agenda of Uttarakhandiyat remains in my focus,’’ he said.
Rawat expressed happiness that Jhangore Ki Kheer has made a place for itself in the kitchen of the President of India.
Large number of workers of Congress party, people associated with social organisations, authors, retired government employees and others attended the party.
