Pink Rally raises breast cancer awareness in Nainital

A Pink Rally was organised in Nainital on Sunday as part of breast cancer awareness month on Sunday. The rally organised by Asha Foundation was aimed at raising awareness on breast cancer and the importance of timely checks. A number of school children, locals and social activists participated in the rally which passed through various parts of the city in the morning.
Saint Mary’s school students staged a street play to raise public awareness. Experts also addressed the public about means to prevent cancer and initial symptoms on the occasion. Dr Anand Mishra from King George Medical College, Lucknow, said that breast cancer is the most widespread cancer among women at present.
However, it is fully curable if diagnosed in the initial stages. Every woman must undertake a self breast examination at least once every month, he said. Asha Foundation head Asha Sharma said that she had initiated this rally in 2019 and that it has been continuing every year since then.
Breast cancer is an ailment in which the symptoms are visible in the initial stages in upto 80 per cent cases. Awareness can enable women to protect themselves from this type of cancer. She also appealed to the youths to become involved in this initiative to raise awareness in society.
