Police to be in alert mode for Modi’s Tuesday visit

Dehradun will be high alert for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit on Tuesday. During a security briefing here on Sunday, it was stated that the entire VVIP event area has been divided into two super zones, six zones, 12 sectors, and 54 sub-sectors. Additional director general of police (Crime and, Law and Order) V Murugesan said that only authorised persons and vehicles will be allowed at the main venue after proper checking. People attending the event will also be checked using metal detectors at entry points. Police will keep a close watch on suspicious persons and special checking drives will be conducted in hotels, bus stands, railway stations and other public places.

The police will also verify people living in high-rise buildings along the VVIP route. Bomb disposal squads and dog squads will check sensitive places like buildings, water tanks and flyovers.  The operation of drones has been completely banned in and around the event area for security reasons.  He directe that special care should be taken to prevent people from standing on barriers. To prevent any stampede-like situation after the event, police personnel have been instructed to guide people through loudhailers to exit calmly and ensure proper crowd management

All station house officers have been directed to conduct checking drives at dharamshalas, hotels, bus stands, railway stations and other public places, and verify the identity of outsiders and suspicious individuals.
