Former president of Congress party and leader of opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi met Deepak Kumar of Kotdwar at his residence in New Delhi on Monday. After the meeting Gandhi shared a post on social media in which he said , “ Meeting with Mohammad Deepak of Uttarakhand- Such a fire of unity and courage should be in every youngster of youth’. Vijay Rawat, the friend of Deepak Kumar was also present on the occasion.
Deepak Kumar of Kotdwar town of Pauri district attained fame when he confronted a group of Bajrang Dal members who were asking an elderly Muslim to change the name of his shop. He also introduced himself as Mohammad Deepak during the incident, the video of which went viral in the social media.
The secretary of communication wing of the All India Congress Committee Vaibhav Walia said that Deepak Kumar has established himself as an example of humanity. He said that meeting Rahul Gandhi with Deepak Kumar is not merely the honour of a person but is the honour of the sentiment of humanity, compassion and public service.
