2-day AI workshop begins: Officers from 34 depts receive training

In an important move meant to make the district administrative system modern and result-oriented, the Uttarkashi district magistrate Prashant Arya inaugurated a two-day workshop for the effective incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the departmental system on Monday. On the first day of this workshop held in the district auditorium, the district level officers and personnel of 34 departments were given training, while on the second day, officers and employees of 36 departments will be given training on the practical use of AI technology in Vikas Bhawan auditorium.
Explaining the need of the workshop, the DM said that it aimed to enhance technical efficiency in administrative work, make decision-making more accurate and transparent and improve the quality of citizen services. During the training session, the officers were provided detailed information on the use of AI-based platforms such as ChatGPT and Gamma, developed by OpenAI.
The district administration sources said that these technologies can expedite the drafting of official correspondence, enhance data collection and analysis, digitalise records management and modernise the monitoring and reporting of public complaints. Furthermore, AI can strengthen decision-making processes, ensuring transparency and quality in the implementation of schemes, sources added.
During the training, special emphasis was placed on the safe and responsible use of AI. Officers were clearly instructed to prioritise departmental confidentiality, data security and protection of sensitive information and to use AI tools in accordance with established guidelines.
Urging the officers and employees to take the training seriously, the DM said that through proper use of AI technology, significant improvements in speed, transparency and quality of administrative work are possible. “This will enable quick, accessible and effective services to ordinary citizens, which will be an important step towards good governance,” he declared.
