Three murder cases have remained unsolved till date with the accused remaining at large and police said that they are trying by all means to crack them. The senior superintendent of police (SSP), Dehradun, Premendra Dobal said on Wednesday that those responsible would be identified soon.
Add to these the unnatural death that surfaced on Monday and the number of unsolved cases for police has gone up to four. A girl’s body was found in an abandoned building near Rispana River close to Chunabhatta area under Raipur police station limits. She was identified as Shivani. The post-mortem report has come, but the exact cause of death is still not clear. Police, however, suspect that the death may have been caused by a drug overdose.
As per the post-mortem report, no signs of injury or external wounds were found on Shivani’s body and this led the doctors to suspect too that her death might have been due to a drug overdose. SSP Dobal said that they have preserved viscera samples for further investigation and the exact cause of death would be known after testing.
Meanwhile, locals and Shivani’s mother alleged that drugs are openly sold in Chunabhatti area with the police looking the other way.
With over a month having passed since the gangster Vikram Sharma was gunned down, police are still on the lookout for the shooters and their accomplices. Sharma had been shot dead by three bike-borne shooters near Silver City on Rajpur Road when he was coming out of a gym. In this case, Dalanwala police have increased the bounty amount from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 and also released photos of the six accused. Dobal said that Dehradun police are conducting raids in several states and the reward may be increased up to Rs one lakh.
In another case in Vikasnagar, where a cousin allegedly killed his sister by slitting her throat, the accused is still at large. It is reported that the accused had taken Manisha Tomar to get medicine and then hacked her to death near a canal. Manisha was a Class 12 student. More than a month has passed, but the police are still clueless over the accused’s whereabouts.
Further, a few days ago, a woman’s body was found in Premnagar. The post-mortem report ascribed the death to strangulation. But police are still groping in the dark. The deceased has not been identified yet.
