State enjoys another day of respite from heat, thunderstorms & rain likely on Tuesday

Dehradun and other parts of the State experienced below normal temperatures again on Monday with light to moderate rain also being reported in some regions. However, according to the State Meteorological Centre, the maximum temperature is likely to rise by three to five degrees Celsius in the State during the next four to five days.

Meanwhile, a yellow warning has also been issued regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places on Tuesday.  Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms/snowfall (at altitudes of 4,000 metres and above) are likely to occur at a few places in the mountainous districts. Very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in the plain districts.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky with thunder cloud development/light rain also likely to occur. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 34 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum temperature in Dehradun on Monday dropped three degrees below normal to 32.6 degrees Celsius while the minimum dropped two degrees to 20.2 degrees Celsius. Below normal maximum and minimum temperatures were also recorded in other locations with 33.6 degrees Celsius and 21.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Pantnagar, 17 degrees Celsius and 11 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 22.9 degrees Celsius and 12.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Nainital received 30.5 millimetres of rain while there was 12 millimetres of rain in Kaladhungi, eight millimetres each in Mukteshwar and Ramnagar and 7.5 millimetres in Dwarahat.
