A one-day cyber security workshop was organised at All Saints’ College in which students from classes IV to XII participated. Notably, the students of class XII organised it themselves. They highlighted the advantages and disadvantages of being overly involved in the technical world. Through video presentations, pictures and examples, the students discussed the functioning of cyber fraud, digital arrest and mobile and social media addiction and their social impacts.
The harms involved in careless use of the Internet for the children and youth mentally, socially and economically were highlighted, too. The participants were asked to avoid cybercrimes by using strong passwords and by not clicking on unknown links besides avoiding sharing personal information on social media.
The principal of the school, Anjana Richards said that such workshops are the need of the hour. “This not only increases technical knowledge but also develops awareness and discretion in children,” she added.
All the teachers and students of the school were present.
