The Bharatiya Janata Party has claimed that the FIR lodged in the Pauri suicide case is as per the laws, adding that the Congress is spreading misinformation in the case. The BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan accused the Congress of propaganda on the law and order situation. He said that the accused was removed from his position in the party as soon as the BJP came to know about the incident. The authorities took timely action and the accused are now in jail, he said.
Chauhan said that in the Ankita Bhandari murder case too the Congress had levelled various allegations regarding the investigation even though due legal process was followed. In the Pauri suicident case one FIR has been lodged under the Arms Act. This is part of the legal process and experts in the law will know better about this. The BJP had removed the accused Himanshu Chamoli when the case came to light and before a case was lodged. The police acted in a timely manner and arrested the accused. It is wrong to allege that attempts were made to protect anyone in such a crime, Chauhan said. The investigating agencies have lodged the case under sections which are relevant as per the law and the Congress has always faced embarrassment after levelling allegations at the investigation agencies, he said.
The BJP leader further claimed that cases are registered and action is also taken under the government headed by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. There has not been a single case brought to light in which attempts were made to shield the accused. While it was difficult to even lodge a report under the Congress government, every criminal has been sent to jail under the BJP government, he added.
